Here is Joe sliding down the falls!

We got a PUPPY!

About two weeks ago, Joe calls me from work. Says he has a HUGE surprise for me! Turns out one of the guys he works with had just gotten a new puppy, and had too much going on in his life. so when him and joe were working, he asked him if we wanted a puppy.. And of course, we had been looking but everyone wants all kind of fees for small puppies. All this guy asked was that we gave him a good home. Of course we agreed! So here he is! our new lil guy!

He is a purebread chocolate cocker spaniel, 12 weeks old. he has blueish green eyes.. Its funny cuz they are "sad" eyes. we never know if hes happy unless we look at his tail (or rather nub, they dont have tails) and if its waggin, then yep hes happy! We named him booda.. he is really cute, and VERY smart! As of today, we are playing fetch! he has a little soccer ball and ive been throwing it and he goes and gets it, and brings it back. (until he gets tired, then he takes it and puts it under the couch) we are working on potty training. Ive been reading alot online about these dogs, and they are great apartment dogs.. they are very very smart. Originally bred to be bird dogs.. their tails are cut off when they are no older than two days old, (back when they were bird dogs, they cut the tail so it didn't get tangled in the underbrush.) so far, he is a VERY good dog! and so adorable!

Last part of vacation... Oregon

After the big party, and the weekend in California, we went to work for 5 days, and both had a week off.. so after all the go go go pace that we had been doing for 2 weeks (it was fun, but exhausting!) we decided when we got to Oregon we were NOT going to worry about anything but relaxing! and we did.

The view up in Oregon! Its so green and pretty! but to get that way it has to rain all the time!

Booda and LuLu hit it off (shes my parents' puppy.) they played so much!

and here is the boys. tuckered out from a days worth of activity!

We took a trip across the street to the river.. we introduced Booda to the water. He did NOT like it! i tricked him one time by wading out into the water and calling him.. he ran right in, but freaked out when he realized he was in the water. He doesn't like to get wet!

the whole time we were there, joe kept saying "i cant believe you got to grow up here" he took this pic of our "swimmin hole"

here is booda after his run in the river.. he was quite mad at us for tricking him...

We went up to the falls one of the days we were up there.. Those of the family that have been there have had SO MUCH FUN there! its a natural waterfall that you can slide down or jump off. it was just perfect for swimming, since it was late august and the level of the water went down... Just as everyone else, Joe LOVED it!

Here is Joe, my mom, and my sister making the trek up the mountain. its VERY slippery so you have to be careful!

Yaay they made it! they are at the top!

My mom is sliding down the falls in this picture.. shes in the blue...

and here is everyone standing up there. usually it takes awhile to get the nerve to take the initial plunge into it... we debate, and check stuff out, and then someone decided to jump in! after the first time, then it takes nothing to keep going!

Santa Cruz

Sunday before we headed out to go home, we headed down to Santa Cruz. It was such a beautiful day!

Don, Pauli, and Joe rode this. if you look at the left side, the first set of people that you can see the fronts of, thats them!

So nice! Blue sky, palm trees, oh and CRAPPY Traffic!

I wouldn't mind living here! it was so laid back.. Its what people think of when they hear Sunny California
Here is Joe tryin to win me something!

Pauli and Joe before getting on the ride..

Alcatraz

We did Alcatraz at night. it was neat but spooky. The night tour gives you a bit more information. The boat also went all the way around the island, so you can see the back side from in the water..

It was FREEZING and windy! people were running in and outside of the boat to get pics and get out of the wind. NOT US THOUGH! we stayed put, Braved the wind, and got the "full effect" here is pics of Joe and Pauli..

The ROCK

The three of us on the "inside"

The Exercise yardAll of us had our hoods up and we were all bundled up. it was so windy, damp and cold!

one of the many pathways and staircases. it was Forbidden for us to go up the stairs..

The water tower

The cell blocks
There are 3 guys that have made an escape attempt and still to the day have not been found.. Their story has been on unsolved mysteries, and they made the movie "escape from Alcatraz" with Clint Eastwood about these guys. Here is one of the dummy heads that they made to fool the guards into thinking that they were asleep in bed. It bought them some time to get a head start on their escape. they had an 8 hour head start...

The tour had a new section open. "the hospital" it was very creepy! gave everyone in our party the creeps... we didn't get any pics of the operating room, but i think my mom did. I will update later with those pictures.. This is the hospital beds section..

And a pic as we were leaving.

Weekend in San Fransisco!

We spent the weekend in San Fransisco with my Parents, Aunt Mandy and Uncle Martin, Steven, and Pauli... Gpa Bob and Gma Dorothy met up with us for some of the fun as well.. We did the pier 39, a San Fransisco city tour (in a short tour bus), then Alcatraz, then went to dinner at the wharf... it was fun! chilly though! good thing i keep an extra jacket in the car... here are some of the good pics we took!

Me in the gardens. really pretty colors!

We were trying to get a nice serious pic of joe and i.. and here comes steven in the background!

These houses are called "the four sisters" cuz they look exactly the same. behind it is the city..

Mom and I under the windmill.. The dutch gave this windmill to the city of San Fransisco to use wind to generate electricity way back when the city was first being built.. all it does now is sit there and look pretty!

Steven and my mom....

Another pic of me with the windmill behind me..

My mom in the gardens

Steven and Uncle Martin doing their "Trolly Pose". we didn't have enough time to actually ride the trolly :( but next time we will schedule some time for that. The whole time we were taking pictures i kept thinking "rice-a-roni- the San Fransisco treat! DING DING!

this is Lombard street. it is in the book of world records as being the most crooked street in America. Sadly we couldn't drive down it, Buses and trucks are not allowed. we couldn't stop either so i snapped this pic just as we were speeding by!

Uncle Martin, Pauli, and Mom in the "tour bus/van"

The golden gate bridge is an awesome structure to take pictures of.. the last set we took were at night. This day we were able to snap some good ones in the daytime. It was SO PACKED there! WAY to many people. when Joe and i went in February, it was midnight and deserted!

another golden gate pic....
and the last golden gate picture...

We wanted to have lunch at Bubba Gump on the pier. But unfortunately the wait was an hour. since they didn't feed us on the bus, and we all skipped breakfast, we couldn't wait! so we went to this pizza joint. it was good!

Virginia City!

The day after the party we took a trip to Virginia city. this time we decided to not tour the shops and go learn some history.. we went to a museum, the train ride, the mine tour... and then, hit up a couple saloons!

This picture ROCKS! i absolutely LOVE it! i printed it and hung it in my work locker to remind me just how much fun that trip was! its all of us in the first saloon stop of the day! in the pic from front to back is Eveline, Aunt Mandy, Aunt Becky, My dad, Uncle Martin and my mom, joe, steven and all the way in the back, Tracy and Fred! Good times!!

Us on the train. my mom is good at getting into the pic at the LAST minute! hehe

here we are on the train. in the pink shirt is Aunt Mandy. the only one who looked when i said "HEY GUYS" was Tracy. That's her in the black shirt. We had a great time with her and her husband Fred.

As we were coming back from the train ride this guy was welcoming us back with his pup... A man and his dog. i think the dogs name is duke..

Eveline under the oldest saloon sign...
This is a pic of the staircase that goes up to the gentleman's club. I heard from someone at work that they are going to open the upstairs part of the gentleman's club up. the pictures that we took turned out quite odd... in some, there is a blurry part. (the bright light in the corner is just from my flash, no ghosts there) but up in the right corner its quite weird.. and my mom took some pics with her camera and one, i swear you can see something!!

haha. my mom and Aunt becky.. funny pic.
We tried to take a good pic of Aunt mandy and me. but the guys in the back were up to mischief!

So we tried another with Eveline, in the background, the boys are busy talking

Steven and Uncle Martin. "claiming" their innocence. "no we didn't do bunny ears! are you crazy?"
